In 2019, 12 Domestic Workers from the Domestic Professionals Association of Kenya (DPAK) started a welfare group with the purpose of saving, borrowing, and assisting each other during bereavement. After 3 years this initiative has blossomed into DPAK Sacco Ltd that was officially registered in the Register of Co-operative Societies, Registration No. CS/ 26878, under the Co-oper¬ ative Societies Act (Cap490) Laws of Kenya, in May 2022. DPAK Sacco Ltd is a Domestic Workers savings and credit cooperative that provides members with a platform to accumulate savings, access credit, invest, and grow economically. The Sacco addresses the unique financial challenges domestic workers face in Kenya and abroad by providing them with access to formal financial services.
